Email Deliverability Term

Sender Reputation

A score that indicates how trustworthy your email sending practices are.

Definition

Sender reputation is a score assigned to your sending IP address and domain that indicates how trustworthy you are as an email sender. Mailbox providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and Outlook use this score to decide whether to deliver your emails to the inbox, spam folder, or reject them entirely. Factors affecting sender reputation include bounce rates, spam complaints, engagement rates, sending volume consistency, and authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). A good sender score is typically above 80 on a 0-100 scale.
